According to the CDC, the common cold causes nearly 22 million missed school days each year. Proper hygiene practices—including effective hand-washing—is essential not only to addressing these unnecessary absences, but to the health of students and school personnel. This age-appropriate program uses practical tips, humor, and videos to engage with students on various hygiene-related topics like handwashing, showering, dental hygiene, skin care, clothing care, nail care, and the healthiest menstrual hygiene practices to help prepare students for the transition from childhood to adolescence. Discussion emphasizes the relationship between self-care and success and includes a brief introduction to the anatomy and physiology of the menstrual cycle. This program is suitable for all genders and may include additional gender-specific information by request.
